Overcoming the Odds: 5-21-10
Filed Under news | Leave a Comment

A sparrow has built her nest in the eaves directly above my front porch. Dreading the inevitable load of bird poop, I considered relocating the nest. But a little research revealed that this ensures the mother will abandon the nest and the babies will die.
Why did the bird pick that spot in which to raise her young? Every time I enter or exit the house, the family goes all aflutter with panic. Whatever the reason, I decided to send positive vibes to my new tenants, to see them as symbols of fresh life in my Feng Shui career sector. And, they have returned the favor by serenading me with their musical chirping as I struggle to master the art of writing a screenplay.
It’s springtime, and new life is determined to manifest itself. Yet Jupiter (growth) has been approaching an opposition to Saturn (obstacles) all month. It’s easy to get discouraged under this aspect, which becomes exact tomorrow, the 22nd. Jupiter-Saturn reminds us that growth is rarely easy–but always worth it. And, by the time life-changing Uranus charges into Aries at the Sagittarius Full Moon on the 27th, we should receive a new infusion of hope and enthusiasm. (Check my forecast at Tarot.com, which will be posted just prior to the Full Moon, to see how this might affect you).
Today I visited my friend Suzanna, whose son, Dylan, was born ten days ago. The infant came to this existence pale as a ghost via an emergency C-section, and required a transfusion to replace 90 percent of his blood. He was unable to breathe on his own for the first week. But thanks to modern technology, his parents’ love, a strong prayer circle and his own determination to survive, Dylan has made a miraculous recovery and will be going home soon.
Dylan didn’t give up, and neither will the life force within you. Whatever challenges you face, remember that new life will ultimately win out. For me, this means recommitting to my screenplay. But first, it’s time for my daily ritual of washing the bird poop off my plastic-covered welcome mat!
Curious what effects the Jupiter-Saturn opposition (and early June’s electrifying Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aries) might have in your life? To find out, contact me for a Quickie reading ($50).

The Astrology of the Oil Disaster: 5-12-10
Filed Under news | Leave a Comment
I awoke this New Moon morning full of concern about a friend’s newborn baby, who’d been battling for his life in an ICU unit all night. And, the New Moon square warrior Mars also triggered my anger and sadness at the peril facing our precious marine animals in the ongoing devastation off the coast of Louisiana and Texas.
After lighting a candle for healing, I looked at the astrology of the oil spill. Just before midnight on April 20, the Sun entered Taurus, sign of the earth and her resources. And, trickster Mercury had just turned retrograde in the same sign. One expects snafus in the workings of machinery while Mercury is stationary retrograde. But in this case, something more was going on.
Just before midnight on April 20, Chiron slid into Pisces, which rules the ocean as well as oil. Chiron relates to serious wounds and the need for healing. This significant “planetoid” remains in Pisces through July, focusing our attention on the oceans’ plight. Then, it slips back into Aquarius before re-entering Pisces next March for a seven-year stay.
Since 2005, when it entered Aquarius, Chiron has been awakening us thru various disasters, such as tsunamis and earthquakes, to the realization that what affects one affects us all. This is especially true with regard to our oceans, which are becoming increasingly polluted with man’s detritus. Chiron in Pisces activates the wound so we can heal it.
This New Moon reminds us that healing is possible when action is taken. Surrounded by a strong prayer circle and pumped up with a transfusion of blood, my friend’s baby is growing stronger by the minute. Praise the Goddess! May the same be true for our oceans.
Actions you can take: Attend a Sierra Club-sponsored Clean It Up event near you. Or, donate hair, animal fur and pantyhose to the clean-up effort. Most importantly, lobby the government for clean-energy solutions that will free us from our oil addiction. Read more: http://www.matteroftrust.org/
