Sometimes it’s hard to know which end is up. We’re living in a time of hype and fear-mongering, especially over the last few weeks with Mercury retrograde in fuzzy-headed Pisces (it has now backtracked briefly into Aquarius, where it turns direct on March 9). The latest virus scare is a good example. Around 100,000 Americans die each year from hospital-acquired infections. Yet here in California a state of emergency has been declared after the death of one elderly person from the coronavirus. Events are being cancelled all over the country, many people are afraid to fly, and others are busy stockpiling supplies in case of quarantine.

I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t take precautions. It’s smart to be prepared for anything. Yet operating from panic is never wise. Luckily for us, a “voice of reason” is on the horizon. Monday’s Virgo Full Moon (March 9, 10:47 a.m. PDT) spotlights health and self-discipline. It supports becoming a disciple to yourself, treating yourself like the divine being you really are. This includes being careful about what (and how much) you consume, and also gaining some control over your thoughts so you don’t stress out too much. As the Sun conjuncts Neptune in watery Pisces opposite the Moon in earthy Virgo, we’re challenged to balance potential panic with presence. Virgo favors healthy limits – especially to do with the mind and body. Full Moons tend to bring emotions to a peak. Yet this one offers just the right medicine. Though Virgo can sometimes be picky or anxious, it also favors grounded, reasonable thinking and actions – which is just what we need right now.

The Full Moon ruler, Mercury, will station direct on March 9 as well, as it officially end its retrograde cycle. But will things return to “normal” after that? It might take a while. As noted above, the Winged Messenger turns forward in late Aquarius. It then takes a final swim through watery Pisces beginning on March 16, where it will hopefully achieve a sense of closure before charging into action-oriented Aries on April 10. Between now and then, stay alert as miscommunications and fears may still be rampant.

Use the discriminating Virgo Full Moon to ground and purify yourself, and discipline your mind to stay positive. Light a candle to Vesta, the Roman goddess of purity and wholeness associated with Virgo, and ask Her to be your voice of reason. Spend some time in nature, prepare healthy meals and cut back on habits that make you susceptible to illness. Go for a long walk, scrub your home, weed your garden and fix anything that’s broken.

In Astro Feng Shui, I associate the center of your home, or Health gua, with Virgo. Clean and clear that area, add a healthy plant, ceramic bowl of fresh lemons, nature photo, or anything else that says “health” to you. Then use the magic of this Full Moon to affirm wellness for yourself and the entire planet. If Luna is visible that night or the night before, be sure to raise your arms to the Virgo Moon Goddess and draw down her radiant blessings!

wise words – thank you Simone! It’s been a crazy ride so far this year. Happy to have the full moon in my home natal sign of Virgo – my sun, mercury, venus and pluto will be happy – I think.

Thank you for this as a Virgo rising it really resonated with me. Over the past few days I found myself spinning out of control caught up in the craziness.

Last night I was pondering my life’s personal challenges, as happens in mercury retrograde. I visualised a golden spiral made of DNA strands representing the way we come back to certain topics in our life to experience them in a more conscious way.

This morning I woke up to see the illustration above. I’m a Virgo sun, feeling nice and aligned right now.

Thank you for your great article and practicality. We all need calm far from the amplified fog of Neptunian energies.
I have Vesta on my ascendant and Venus/Jupiter in Virgo conjunct in the ninth house so I really resonate. with your words. Sensibility can be an underrated quality yet it is everything in this current health situation. This gives the power back to us to us individually taking small, practical steps which amount to lot done collectively. Ritual is so powerful too no matter how small.
