Leo Full Moon: Show Us What You’ve Got!

Amazingly, all this attention has been happening just prior to tomorrow’s Leo Full Moon. Exact on Bowie’s 3 degree moon, it lights up the opposition to his Aquarius Ascendant. Here’s how the talented performer once expressed this polarity: “For me as an artist it wasn’t just about expressing my work; I really wanted, more than anything else, to contribute in some way to the culture I was living in.” Mission accomplished.

Sex and Money? Bring ’em on!

Sex, money and power are Scorpio’s domain. The upcoming Scorpio New Moon (Wed. Nov. 11, 9:47 a.m. PST) puts that power at our fingertips. Benefic Jupiter in earthy Virgo sextiles the Sun and Moon as they join, which helps us see – and magnetize – the good fortune all around us. Mercury in Scorpio conjuncts the New Moon, lending insight and awareness, while Chiron trines it, helping us heal old wounds that stand in the way of wealth and well-being.

Taurus Full Moon: Protect What You Hold Dear

Protection is an important theme for the Taurus Full Moon (Tuesday, Oct. 27, 5:05 a.m. PDT). A sign that prizes the things it loves, Taurus is strongly Earth-connected. This the third Super Moon in a row, and a powerful time of magic and manifestation as the Moon in grounded Taurus opposes the Sun in mystical Scorpio. Consider: Are you supporting yourself adequately? Are you setting firm boundaries where needed? Ask a favorite tree for guidance. You may be amazed by what you hear!

Blood Moon Eclipse: What’s Your New Superpower?

The period from March 1967 to Oct. 1968 was the last time we experienced four Blood Moons (total lunar eclipses) in a row. These eclipses took place in Libra, sign of peace and love, and Aries, sign of fiery independence. Now history is repeating itself, with four Blood Moons in Aries-Libra once again. The first was in April 2014, and the last is happening this weekend (Sunday Sept. 27, 12:29 p.m. PDT).

August 14 Leo New Moon: Smile!

Now, at this New Moon (Friday, August 14, 7:53 a.m. PDT), we’re asked to take a time-out from being so serious and celebrate the power of love. The New Moon’s trine to open-minded Uranus urges us to think outside the box, as we ponder what we can give others to make them smile. For example, I brought my Starcaster oracle to a barbecue last weekend and gave mini-readings, to everyone’s delight. Then, I included some out-of-town friends-of-a-friend in our monthly New Moon collaging. It doesn’t take much to touch peoples’ hearts and make their day.

Brags and Blue Moons

There’s much hoopla about this being a “Blue Moon,” but to most astrologers that’s just a quaint notion. Much like New Year’s Day, a Blue Moon (signifying a second Full Moon in the same month) is, although somewhat rare, purely a Gregorian calendar phenomenon that gains its power by our collective focus. Still, we need all the magic we can get in this overly rational world. So here’s your chance to make merry with friends (Aquarius) and celebrate your uniqueness (Leo) at this Blue Moon – whose energy extends throughout the weekend.

July Theme: Reclaim Your Inner Queen

Ushering in this potent period is the Cancer New Moon (July 15, 6:24 pm PDT). Cancer is, of course, the sign of the Mother. As the Sun and Moon join in this emotionally sensitive sign, Mercury and Mars also join in Cancer, exactly opposing Pluto. Something important wants to be birthed, spoken aloud and claimed at this New Moon. Pluto and Mars were also featured at the July 1 Full Moon – and many of us are still reeling from what transpired around that time, which caused our hearts to crack open (whether through loss, joy, or both). As this New Moon approaches, remember that to feel intensely is not a sign of weakness – it’s what makes us truly human. We’re taking the first tentative steps toward a deeper kind of love and devotion to self and others, as well as our Earth Mother.
