By the early 1950s, Frank Sinatra’s career had hit a low ebb. No one wanted him as a singer or an actor. Yet when he read the book From Here to Eternity, which was about to be made into a movie, Sinatra knew he was born to play the part of Maggio. So he contacted the producer, Harry Cohn, offering to test for the part. Cohn turned him down flat. But then the actor they’d cast as Maggio was accused of being a Communist and fired from the picture. Sinatra ordered his agent to get him the part. Cohn, desperate to fill the role as filming was about to begin, agreed to hire Sinatra at a fraction of his former salary and without any billing – which meant the former star’s name would be near the bottom of the credits.

But Sinatra was so sure this was his turning point that he agreed to the terms, made the movie – which became a smash hit – and even won Best Supporting Actor at the 1954 Oscars! Ol’ Blue Eyes was back on top. Swallowing his pride wasn’t easy for this bold, impatient man with a Sagittarius Sun squared by its ruler, Jupiter, but Sinatra was ripe for a comeback. His determined, ambitious Venus-Saturn opposition was being electrified by transiting Uranus, and he also had some favorable transits from Jupiter. This was his cosmic flashpoint, and it thrust the entertainer back into the limelight.

I was reminded of this story while looking at the chart for this Sunday’s Capricorn Full Moon (July 21, 3:17 a.m. PDT). This Full Moon, the second in a row in the determined sign of Capricorn, challenges us to claim our authority and wisdom. This lunation falls at the 29th and final degree of the sign, the anaretic or “last gasp” degree. Things are changing quickly, and we must pivot accordingly. This unpredictable energy has been in effect since the recent Mars-Uranus conjunction in Taurus, which hit the Midheaven (public angle) of another bold, fiery man – Donald Trump – as his ear was grazed by a bullet at a rally. Political astrology is not my forte, but many astrologers are having a field day unpacking this wild occurrence.

We’re at a cosmic flashpoint, for better or for worse, when someone or something bursts suddenly into the public eye – and the coming Full Moon is apt to illuminate the picture. The July 21 Full Moon is a bookend to the one that fell on June 21 at one degree Capricorn. Consider what was brewing in mid-June for yourself and the world at large. It’s now coming to a head, compelling us to wake up and take heed. If something has reached the breaking point for you, this Full Moon can awaken your determination to act. Powerful Pluto at one degree Aquarius, a determined fixed sign, is one degree from the Moon, and revolution is in the air. Pluto was last in Aquarius during the American, French and Haitian revolutions. And this energy can be messy, especially at the beginning. In the U.S., we’re seeing a lot of confusion, division and Plutonian drive to bring on the future (or return to the way things were). I’ve heard that Pluto in Aquarius offers “renewed hope for innovative solutions to long-standing problems.” Hurray for that! But first we’ve got to clear away the detritus to make way for the future. And that may take a while.

Spiritual guide Lazaris has noted that, “Monumental chaos precedes monumental change, and the world is becoming new. These are tempestuous times calling for tempestuous magic – magic that is alive with Intensity, brimming with passion, and emboldened with gratitude.”

May this flashpoint Full Moon inspire you to make magic, or do whatever you’re compelled to do. Follow Frank Sinatra’s bold and courageous lead, and you, too, may catch a ride to victory!

We definitely won’t be going backwards in this climate. I await with bated breath knowing that I can be proactive in wrapping up outworn and deeply ingrained cycles.
Thank you Simone and happy full moon in Capricorn!

I am always grateful for your weekly newsletter as it helps me navigate my daily life, as you are so “right on”! I recall awhile back in one of your newsletters you predicted that something would happen to President Biden where Vice President Kamala Harris would step in, though you said you did not know what. I can’t recall your exact words, but I’m blown away by this playing out right now, with Biden stepping down and Harris being endorsed by Democrats as our next President! I know you are a good astrologer, but are you a bit psychic too (lol)?

Glad you appreciate the blogs, Mary Anne! I don’t recall saying anything prescient about the Biden-Harris scenario, but let’s just say I wasn’t surprised at this latest development!
