Years ago, when Kim D’Eramo was sick with an auto-immune disorder, she felt a lot of fear every time her back or neck went into spasm or fatigue overwhelmed her. As this perceptive osteopathic doctor writes in her mind-bending book Be Your Own Healer: An Intuitive Doctor’s Guide to Activating Your Innate Abilities Through Mind-Body Medicine, “I made what was happening wrong. I would think: Why is this happening? Nothing is working, I have to fix it. I have to fight this.”

But once D’Eramo developed a quantum awareness of her body, she recognized that she was clamping down against a deeper part of herself. As she began to allow the sensations and reminded herself it was okay to feel what she was feeling and let go, her body softened and the spasms and pain disappeared. If they came back later, she would patiently resume softening, sending herself love and letting go.

“Eventually, the whole pattern resolved completely,” she recalls. The debilitating pain, she realized, was just energy trying to move through her body. “It was there to show me something. It was reflecting the tension I was holding. And if I stayed receptive and let go, my body could heal.”

We’re now in an especially supportive time for healing. The June 21 Solstice happened just as Chiron entered Taurus, which rules the body and material world. With the Sun in nurturing Cancer linking hands with “wounded healer” Chiron at the new season, we get to focus on healing our body-minds and the Earth itself, especially over the next three months. (After that, Chiron dips back into Aries briefly before re-inhabiting Taurus from May 2027 through May 2034). Be open to how that process may show up, however, as sometimes wounds need to be triggered before they can be healed.

The upcoming Capricorn Full Moon (June 29, 4:57 pm PT) makes a practical grand trine with Chiron in Taurus and the South Node in Virgo. Earth signs get things done. Those with natal Cap Moons, in particular, are a determined bunch. Yet when the Moon is in her fall, feelings may be squelched in favor of facts – or just soldiering on. As the Moon in the steady sign of the goat opposes the Sun in the sensitive sign of the crab, we need to find a balance between practicality and protectiveness. As Dr. D’Eramo discovered, only when we are willing to soften (Cancer) can practical change (Capricorn) occur.

Late June-early July is a busy time. Mercury turns retrograde in Cancer on the morning of the Full Moon, intensifying the need to feel and express emotions, especially related to home, family and old memories. The stationary retrograde phase can be frustrating, so try not to start anything new or have sensitive conversations at this time. Then, six hours after this lunation, Jupiter leaves Cancer and struts into fiery Leo for an entire year. Jupiter has no essential dignity in Leo as it did in Cancer, but it’s still a happy place for self-expression, creativity and being more extroverted (especially for Leo types).

Next, Mars joins Uranus in Gemini on July 3, setting off firecrackers on the eve of Independence Day. We’ll already be feeling this energy at the Full Moon four days earlier, which brings emotions to a head, so expect some craziness. Mars is a major activator for unpredictable Uranus, newly in Gemini for the first time since the early-to-mid 1940s. Travel with caution and move slowly to avoid accidents. Think twice before blurting out (or posting) something you might regret. But be open to mind-blowing insights.

Also, already in the air and peaking on July 19, is a configuration known as Barbault’s Basket after the French mundane astrologer Andre Barbault, who identified this pattern many years ago. Some are calling this the most significant cosmic event of this decade, a seed moment revealing the beginnings of a new world. All these planets will be at 4 degrees of their respective signs: Jupiter in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius, sextiles Uranus in Gemini and trines Neptune in Aries. More on that in my next essay.

In the meantime, keep your focus close to home and tune in to your body. Most of us have aches and pains, especially as we age.  Whether mild or debilitating, it’s just energy trying to move through. As Dr. Kim reminds us, if we stay receptive, let go and send love, our bodies can heal. Use the earthy energies at this lunation to stay grounded, as you release the past so you can move gracefully into the future.
