For the first time since 1952, cheetahs will soon roam wild in India once again. Eight of the big cats, famed for reaching speeds of 70 mph without breaking a sweat, are set to arrive in August from Namibia, to make their home at Kuno-Palpur National Park. A combination of hunting, habitat loss and food scarcity led to the cheetah’s extinction in India, but thankfully, now they’re coming home!
The Leo New Moon (July 28, 10:54 a.m. PDT) is a great time for a comeback. The Sun and Moon at 5 degrees of frisky, feline Leo bring a fresh injection of energy. They also catalyze a fighting spirit and sense of adventure as they trine devil-may-care Jupiter in Aries, extra-powerful as he stations retrograde. This can be the time to set yourself free. But this station is a double-edged sword. Big jefe Jupiter wants his way…and brooks no opposition. Negotiation skills are as important as fighting chops now, especially in light of other factors.
This lunation coincides with an exact square between Mercury and Uranus (a wake-up call of its own) and it also occurs just four days before the fateful August 1 conjunction of Mars, Uranus and the karmic North Node in Taurus. Keep your feet on the ground and your eyes peeled through the August 11 Full Moon, which also engages with wild card Uranus. Between now and mid-August, avoid air travel if possible or doing anything especially risky as delays, detours and accidents can occur when Uranus is so prominent.
Christina Caudill of Radiant Astrology just had a personal experience of this energy when she took a bad fall while out on a run, breaking her fibula. Here’s what she says about the current aspect pattern:
“Whenever Mars and Uranus engage in a hard aspect, we often see Mars ‘detonating’ the erratic, electric and explosive effects of Uranus. In an Earth sign like Taurus, we tend to experience physical, tangible or Earthly expressions – such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes or weather that impacts the Earth. What makes this alignment even more amplified is the presence of the North Lunar Node /Rahu. While the North Node often has a Jupiter-like effect of expansion, it tends to go even further and align a new path of destiny or fated experiences. And while the NN can be experienced positively as grace or synchronicity, when it aligns with the malefic side of Mars and the erratic energy of Uranus, we may collectively experience uncontrollable energy that shatters and explodes.” |
So, we can anticipate inner or outer breaks/breakthroughs in the near future – especially in the Taurus area of our charts. But this New Moon also brings hope. Because Jupiter signifies our philosophy of life, and retrogrades take us back to the past, you may feel inspired to revisit a place, person or spiritual path that was once meaningful to you. Watch for sudden flashes of insight that reveal old patterns which are ready to be reworked. The stage is set for exploring former lives with the goal of gaining valuable insight that can liberate you. For a simple but effective regression technique you can do yourself without the aid of hypnosis, check out Jeanne Avery’s classic book Astrology and Your Past Lives.
Whatever else you do, stay playful and curious at this Leo New Moon. Be like those cheetahs and enjoy the terrain, especially if it feels like coming home. We may be living in uncertain times, but “not knowing” can offer an exhilarating sense of freedom. Perhaps your personal comeback is at hand!
